Cricut Projects from Cricut Class 4/24/09

Hey All...

So I've been creating with my Cricut a lot lately - but haven't had much time to post. Just wanted to share what we did on my Cricut Class 4/24/09. It was a basic class, a refresher for those that use the Design Studio together with the Cricut Machine. I introduced the ladies to Cricut.Com where they could check out the community board, check out new cartridges, redeem reward certrificates and other fun stuffs. The main thing though was to share with them how to look or ask for a certain cut file on the community board, and how to go about downloading and saving it to your computer. We did a simple project, which was this cake cut file. Pleaes note: You cannot use the files unless you have 2 things: 1) The Design Studio Program, and 2) The cartridge(s) that were used to create the cut file. Also, you cannot use a friend's DS program, as it is limited to 1 download per serial # (which by the way can be found on the envelope of the DS disc).

The cake cut file was a simple enough cut file to download, save, open in DS, and then cut ourselves. We had fun cutting and creating our pieces of cakes. We all had the White cake with chocolate flowery filling, but I had to experiment with another, and make a guava cake for my Hawaiian sistahs.

I've used CB folders on both cakes - the top one used "Swiss Dots" and this guave cake used "Curlz n' Swirlz". For the guava cake, I used the ink to paper method, and ink'd up the edges of my cake, as well as the swirlz on the top. Then added some ribbon on the top left to make it look like frosting alon the edges. Yummmm-Y! Makes you wanna have a chunk of it, doesn't it?!?! Anyways, if you have a Cricut Machine and the DS program, and would like to cut this file - head on over to Shirley's blog: Paper, Scissots, Ink and you will find the cut there.

The other project that the ladies wanted to do was the Mini backpack. Wini said, "let's do the backpack"... so we did. After cutting all the pieces and looking through the cut, I realized that there is some room for improvement - so I'm going to work on fixing the cut file for that... maybe add a little something special.... but here is the backpack that Irene put together. I didn't get a pic of mines or Wini's, as they are both the same....

For this mini backpack - you can download it here - or look on my sidebar, and you will find it under "mini backpack". I'm still working on a larger cut. =0) I am thinking about making these for the last day of school for the teacher's - notice I didn't say kids... they wouldn't appreciate it, huh?!?!

The last project I showed the ladies were that with the DS program, you could take practically ANY design cut, and create it as the front part of a card - that is with this red high heel shoe card here. I didn't really dress it up, did I?! It's just something I wanted to share with them.

Well, today - I have Glama Gurl Evie coming over. I'm doing a 1-on-1 Cricut Class with her. Should be FUN!!!

Oh, and guess what?!?! I've finished with the Sizzix Box #2 cut (the one SU! is currently selling)... I will share that with you all SOON!!!

Big Hugs n' have an awesomely blessed Wednesday!!!

Aloha,
Jen

Great job with the cake! I didn't think about using the swirls folder for icing, great idea, I'll be trying that. I also LOVE your backpack, thanks for sharing!
