Hello Kitty Head - With George & Plantin Cartridges

Happy Birthday Flower Lei Cards

Playing around with this Cricut Design Studio program is sooo much fun!!! I am thinking of more n' more things to create with it and especially figuring out some "aloha" ones is the best!!!! Here are 2 flower lei cards that I promised. Sorry, I wasn't able to upload and post this yesterday. They both look kinda "bleh" to me... but just giving you an idea of what the Design Studio can do. The first card here, I added stickles to the mid of each flower. I adjusted the cut after doing these cards, as I thought the lettering could be a little bigger.

On the 2nd card, I sponged the edges of the flower lei to give it some definition. Again, used stickles for each middle. Plain Jane, but something Aloha to send quickly is always sweet.

Here is what the altered cut looks like, and is also on the cut file... as you can see I've enlarged the letters a little more, and some are now welded to the lei itself. Hope you like this one.

Heart Fold Anniversary Card

Hey All.... here is another cut that was inspired by a Sizzix cut, the heart fold card. I saved me $15-$20 by creating this cut with the Design Studio. The 1st photo is the Sizzix Cut, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

2nd photo is of my cut that I created using the Cricut's Design Studio. I know that before I purchase anything of Sizzix, I'm going to try and create it with my Cricut Design Studio. Granted that I won't be able to cut this through a chipboard or felt, or leather.... but I'm not into cutting my cards on these materials anyways. The stamp image that I used is from Whipper Snapper. I embossed the heart flaps with my Swiss Dots CB Folder. The panels were sewned on - YES!!! I busted out my sewing machine, and went stitching. At least it's still going to good use, rather than just sitting there on my table of machines. I have to get me more thread, and do a lot more sewing though.

Below are photos of the inside of the card, and a close up of my stitches from my sewing.... It was a fun card to create.

The sentiment on the inside says "Love You" and is a TAC sentiment. The DP is a very pretty paper which I purchased from my friend Brian down at Photo Craft. This card was created for my hubby - it was our 14th Anniversary on the 3rd of September. Yes, I am late... but it was worth waiting for, right??!

LCWC#8 - My Cricut Version

It's LCWC#8 on my Pieces of Me blog this week. I thought I'd create a Cricut creation as well for this challenge. The challenge is to create a Halloween themed card, using this sketch. I turned the sketch on this project, and since I had some left over embossed thingies, I thought they'd go great on here. Using my Design Studio, I created the sentiment by welding the letters together, and adding a spider to the sentiment. I cut out the spider in black n' it's body in orange to give it a 3D layering. You can download the sentiment if you'd like. I've also included the body of the spider for exact fit, and an exact cut of the spider's full body to layer your spider in what ever color you want. On my "map" I note what colors I've used for each cut, this is not part of the file download.

I went over the lettering with my black pen, because when I first glanced at the sentiment - the 2nd "l" in "Halloween" connected to the "o" actually looked like the letter "p".... anyways, I was too lazy to re-cut, but I did fix the file, so that the "o" was more noticeable n' not to be mistaken as a "p".... hahahaa...

Scallop Heart, Inner Swirls & Scallop Card

Here is another reason why I love using the Cricut's Design Studio. If I ever want to create a layer to fit exactly inside another cut, then I can do that. I first select the cut that I want, which in this case is the scallop heart, and adjust to the size I am looking for. I then select the inner Swirls design, and on my computer screen, directly layer this design on top of my scallop heart and adjust accordingly to the exact size that I want. I then move the design over to the right, and select the cardstock that I want to use. Adhere the size of the carstocks (which I used 6x6) to the mat, 1 red, the other white, and have both cuts cut at the same time!!! How cool, huh?!?!!? To add the glitter - I simply ran the swirl die cut through my Xyron machine, then bathed it in my glitter container.

The card is also a cut that I created using the Cricut Design Studio. It is a scallop edge card cut. The card cuts out to 5.5 x 11 and you can cut 2 cuts 1 time if you have the cricut expression.

Here is what my creation turned out to look like. As you can imagine, it is an over sized card, therefore - you may have to create an envelope to go with it. =0)

4 Window Card - Just Like Sizzix Cut

The one thing I am loving about the Cricut's Design Studio, is that I can copy some of the cuts that Sizzix put out there. Sizzix has come out with a ton of window cut dies, which with some patience and time, is easy to recreate and cut on a Cricut Machine. I do have a Sizzix Machine, but figure if I can do the cut on my Cricut, why spend money, AND take up MORE space than I already am using?! So, if I can mimic a cut that Sizzix has, then whooop-tee-dooooo for me (and those of you who agree with me and want to use these cuts as well). Although the downfall of cutting this with a Cricut Machine, is that of not being able to cut through a chipboard, however, most of my creations don't consist of chipboard anyways. Like this card. I don't plan on cutting this on chipboard, and then adhering to a card front. This was cut directly on cardstock. Like the Sizzix window die cuts, the Cricut Design Studio allows you to move your windows wherever you want them to be.

Mom Title

I made this cut for Mother's Day this past year, great for a mother's day SB page, or make smaller for tablets, notebook, a card and more... this cut was actually one of the 1st cuts that I created using the Design Studio program.

Here is what the cut looks like after coming out of the machine. As you can see, everything is connected to each other - I love this feature!!!
